A Real Piece of Gear

A Real Piece of Gear

The Macabi skirt turned out to be more than a skirt; it was a real piece of gear during our trek on the Annapurna circuit in Nepal. The fabric dries in less than an hour in the sun. I could bathe modestly outdoors, after the fashion of the local women, by pulling the skirt up to my armpits. The "fishing skirt" configuration keeps the hem out of underfoot when the trail gets steep. The pockets are great; the zipper compartment was a secure place to keep day money, and the spacious side pockets were a perfect temporary stash for hat and mittens between rest stops. Trekkers from all over the world were asking me and my friend where we had bought the skirts, and the modesty factor garnered us appreciative looks from the local women.
